Join us to explore how you can bring a favorite book to life using OctoStudio—a free mobile coding app for creative learning from the MIT Media Lab. Choose a character, quote, or idea from a book that inspires you. Make a drawing, take a photo, record your voice, or start by creating with craft materials. Snap together colorful coding blocks to make your creation come to life. We'll share a variety of inspiring examples from children and educators creating stories and games to express their ideas and interests. In the process of making projects, students develop multiple literacy skills while making personally and culturally meaningful connections. We'll gather to share explorations and brainstorming ways to adapt this activity and resources for learners in your community.
